I’m a musician – most often a folksinger, but at times a contra dance player, teacher, bass player, arranger, sound engineer…

I live in Severna Park, Maryland (near Annapolis and Baltimore). I’m always looking for other musicians to play with (either for fun or for money, or better yet, both!). I’m not actively teaching instrument lessons now, but if you want a lesson, call me up!

Music Classes for Kids

I teach Music Together classes in the Annapolis area for Music Together Chesapeake. This is an immersion-style parent & child music class aimed at kids from 9 months to 5 years. It helps kids develop the musicianship they’ll need to sing or play music throughout their lives. It’s a ton of fun, too!

Performing

I’m best known as the guitarist and lead singer of the Philadelphia-based electric folk band Broadside Electric.

As a folksinger, I perform solo and as a duo with my wife, Amy Ksir (who is also a Broadside member). Amy and I, with Emily Aubrey (fiddle) and Robin Wilson (concertina, flute, sax) make up the contra dance band I-97.

Amy and I are the managers and hosts of the 333 Coffeehouse, a monthly folk/acoustic concert series in Annapolis that’s been going since 1992. We sit on the board of 333’s sponsor, the Annapolis Traditional Dance Society.

From time to time I’ve played in other bands – Irish, old-time, contra dance, country, blues and rock.

Every once in a while I make a video… here’s my YouTube channel.

Instruments

I play and (occasionally) teach:

I also play cittern (bouzouki) for some kinds of music (mainly Irish), piano when the need arises (though not necessarily well), and harmonica just because it’s fun to play.
